Richard Wahl of Vernon, New Jersey, has been named as the winner of a $533 million lottery prize.
Wahl, 47, who won the Mega Millions drawing in March, was introduced on Friday, April 13, at the lottery’s headquarters. He’s opting to take the $220.7 million cash payout after taxes.
The win was unlikely, he said. The food processing plant manager said this was only the second time he’d played the lottery.
He said he bought the winning ticket against his wife’s advice, Pix 11 reported. However, his wife didn’t hold it against him when he told her what had come of it.
“We cried a lot together as a family,” said Wahl. “We didn’t sleep that much. The nerves, the shock of everything. I don’t think it’s still settled in for us.”
